Just enough water is heated for a few hot drinks at a time so as not to waste energy
heating a large tank every time a drink is served.
- The kWh price for electricity has been calculated at a rate of £0.095 per KW/H based
on UK business energy prices 2008 obtained from http://www.ukinvest.gov.uk/Information-sheets/4018102/en-GB.html
- We defined a typical week as a 10 hour working day, 5 days a week with the weekend
classified as non working times. We assumed a typical year to consist of 52 typical
weeks.
- Testing for comparative energy efficiency was carried out according to the European
Vending Association Energy Measurement Test protocol (version 2). This tests energy
usage in the heat up of the machine, when the machine stands idle and when it vends
a drink.
